Local Fundraiser nets $30,000 for the Splash Pad.

On Friday, May 5, 2012, the Lake Country Rotary held a “Spring Splash” fundraising event to benefit the Lake Country Rotary Splash Pad.  About 150 attendees donned their formal wear and celebrated for a great cause.  Rotarian and event organizer Tom Brass was overwhelmed by the generosity of the attendees and noted “the event was a huge success and raised over $30,000 for the Splash Pad Project.”

Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike enjoyed passed appetizers as they bid on silent auction items and carefully placed raffle tickets for the chance to win a flat screen TV, golf bag, and other prizes.  Following dinner, a live auction was held with County Executive Dan Vrakas serving as auctioneer.

All proceeds went to the Lake Country Foundation for the exclusive purpose of funding the Splash Pad Project.  The proceeds from the event allowed the club members to “turn up the heat” on the big thermometer in downtown Hartland to over $227,000 of raised and pledged funds for the Splash Pad.

The Lake Country Rotary and Lake Country Foundation are aiming to raise $300,000 for construction of a Splash Pad in Nixon Park.  Although the group had hoped to break ground this spring, the fundraising efforts have forced the project to be slightly delayed.  The group hopes to finalize fundraising this spring and summer and possibly build this fall or next spring at the latest.

In addition to the Spring Splash, the Rotary Club is currently raffling off a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle and is hosting their annual Audacious Beer Celebration event the weekend of June 29-July 1 in Nixon Park.  To learn more, donate, or buy raffle tickets, visit

The bids are in, the contracts are awarded, the start of construction delayed due to our wet and late spring, but the Lake Country Foundation and Rotary Club are anticipating construction starting any day on the Splash Pad.  Due to the delay, it is unlikely that the group will hit its Memorial Day goal to have the pad open, but hope to be complete mid-June.  The generosity of the community has been amazing, however the group is still collecting donations.  For purposes of construction, the group has set a deadline of May 15 for donations in order to be recognized on the site.  Plaques of various sizes and distinction will be proudly displayed with donor names, so do not miss your opportunity to make a splash and leave a legacy in the park.  Regarding additional donations, project co-chair Mike Kaiser noted, “any additional funds raised will help us put the finishing touches on the project, and possibly add a few extra nice-to-have elements, which might otherwise need to be left for future years.”

Donations can be made online or can be made in person at the offices of Emanuele & Haut, 142 E. Capitol Drive, Hartland.

Progress Update - April 2012

Press Release 6/21/13

The Lake Country Rotary and Lake Country Foundation will be hosting a Grand Opening celebration for the Lake Country Rotary Splash Pad at Nixon Park, Hartland WI on Saturday June 29, 2013 beginning at 12pm.  There is no admission fee for the event or the splash pad.  The event will feature music, games for children, food, drink, and ice cream for purchase.  Ceremony at 1pm.

A splash pad combines the sensations of water movements and interactive play elements in a safe “zero-depth” water play area. There is no need for lifeguards and virtually no drowning risk.  The play area is constructed on a concrete slab with various water features that spray water in different patterns and directions, cooling off visitors and providing for hours of fun.

The splash pad is the first of its kind in Waukesha County and made possible by generous community members and local businesses.  The Village of Hartland is planning to have the splash pad open regularly from 10am-7pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Saturday June 29th is the first planned day of operation as construction crews are racing against the clock and the weather to complete the project.
